Managed Payment Service by TeleCash: Less is more - simply offloading payment transactions
01/03/2010
FRANKFURT, March 1, 2010 – TeleCash GmbH & Co. KG, a First Data company and one of Germany’s leading network operators for card payment processing, will present its Managed Payment Service at Düsseldorf’s EuroCIS 2010 trade fair. The innovative client-server system helps reduce technology at the point of sale (PoS), thereby reducing retailers’ workloads.
Back in 2009, when Germany’s Central Credit Committee (ZKA) issued the future goal of point of sale payment terminals becoming pure input units for customers, the Managed Payment Service was already undergoing testing at TeleCash. As early as mid 2008, the company had kicked off development of the new technology which works without complex technology inside the PoS terminal and pursues the principle of fully segregating terminal hardware and software, thereby making it easier and less complicated to offload payment transactions. While the merchant and customer user interface remains unchanged, it is now only used for amount and PIN entry. Transaction and data processing are then handled entirely by the PCI-compliant TeleCash server which is connected directly to the input units.
The major benefits of this solution are that software updates can now be loaded by TeleCash centrally onto the application server and that installation at the PoS itself is no longer necessary – this translates into a major reduction in merchant’s workload and significant process acceleration, especially for large-scale PoS networks. Also, TeleCash services such as Cash&Go (loading of prepaid cell phone cards) can be enabled at the push of a button and are available directly at the PoS – without lead times or new technical challenges. Last but not least: Managed Payment Service lengthens the longevity of terminals which might no longer have been upgradeable to fulfill the technical requirements of new ZKA standards, for example: as soon as the updates have been modified for the Managed Payment Service, they are made available on the central server for continued trouble-free usage by existing terminals.
“In this way, we create investment security for merchants at a stroke and simultaneously alleviate their administrative IT workload which really has nothing to do with their core business,” says Thomas Haarmann, Managing Director of TeleCash GmbH & Co. KG. “For the merchant, less is considerably more“
