TeleCash: New Mobile Terminals Enable Merchants to Accept Payments from Virtually Anywhere

FRANKFURT, March 2, 2010 – TeleCash GmbH & Co. KG, a First Data company and one of Germany’s leading network operators for card payment processing, has signaled its commitment to the mobile terminal market with the promotion of its VeriFone V670 GSM/GPRS terminal at Düsseldorf’s EuroCIS trade fair.

According to a survey conducted by TeleCash, Germany is a developing country when it comes to mobile solutions for cashless payments, with only around 10 percent of terminals supporting point of sale (POS) functionality without using a physical telecommunication link. In addition, the survey found that in other European countries, the share is significantly higher at around 30 percent.

“Our market research indicates significant demand and clear customer needs in this area, which we want to address immediately,” says Thomas Haarmann, managing director TeleCash GmbH & Co. KG. “Mobile terminal growth rates average 15 percent over the past three years and confirm huge potential which we now want to tap.”

At this year’s EuroCIS, TeleCash will present the V670 GSM/GPRS mobile terminal, a device that is user friendly and secure. It has an integrated communication module for online card payments from anywhere in the Global System for Mobile Communications and General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) networks. Designed for all types of cashless payment, the device is particularly suitable for delivery service or technical service providers that want to offer their clients a convenient alternative to cash payments directly onsite.

With mobile terminals, merchants can target new customer groups and create new revenue streams. Logistics providers, emergency services and craftsmen are just a few of the merchant groups that can now enter the world of cashless payments through TeleCash’s mobile and contactless terminal solutions.
