Martin Timmann, Torex Retail Solutions GmbH
1. Recently you equipped a new flower shop in Hamburg with one of your Torex systems. Why is a check-out system such as Torex Express so attractive for smaller and medium-sized shops?
In the past, we focused primarily on large and medium-sized retailers with an outlet structure. With Torex Express, we have expanded our portfolio and integrated a cost efficient complete check-out solution, allowing neighbourhood stores to benefit from our long-standing experience in the retail business. This, in turn, enables them to offer their customers the services expected these days.
Use of store cards, return of articles, monitoring of product information, cash and credit card payments - all this is part of daily business for large retailers. In small companies, things are still different, however. This can create the decisive competitive edge. Smaller retailers often use electronic cash registers. Torex Express includes a standard set of functions that goes far beyond the possibilities of these so-called ECRs. Usually such features are costly add-on modules. They include for example networking capability, any number of happy-hour periods, sale of articles with best-before checks, warehouse management, multi-lingual support, an EFT interface and much more.
2. Torex offers complete solutions under one roof. In order to achieve this, you have been cooperating with Ethalon GmbH in the area of personnel planning since February 2011. How does this partnership benefit your customers?
For many years, Torex and Ethalon have been developing tried and tested solutions for time and attendance recording and personnel planning in the retail business. With this cooperation, the two companies bundle their in-depth market knowledge and their developmental capacities in order to jointly offer retailers a technologically and functionally advanced solution for needs-oriented personnel planning.
Together, we have at our disposal a broad base of customers from various retail segments. The know-how derived is now concentrated and flows into a single product. It is available to both Torex and Ethalon customers. Because of this joint development work, we are also quicker and more flexible in reacting to customer requests.
3. Are you planning further partnerships or cooperative ventures in future?
Our goal at Torex is to offer our customers the best possible solution to optimise their outlet processes and to offer their customers a pleasant shopping experience. To achieve this goal, we have been working with various partners right from the start. As long as there is a benefit to the customers, we will continue to enter into new partnerships and cooperative ventures.
